MEASURING EMPLOYMENT IN FISHERIES

Some fisheries are seasonal. Small scale fisheries provide part-time employment. Consistent measurement of employment is required to allow design of proper employment policies and reliable international comparisons. In cooperation with partners in France, Italy, Denmark and the Netherlands, Framian developed a methodology to estimate labour input in fisheries in terms of ‘full-time equivalents’.
