PRICING PLAICE

Plaice is one of the economically most important species for the Dutch fishing fleet. LEI and Framian analysed the market for plaice and the competing products in order to determine whether a structurally higher price for plaice could be achieved. The study demonstrated that the globalization of international trade and market integration leads to depressed prices as substitute products become available and large buyers determine the market conditions.
